CURRENT BEAUTY FAVOURITES - JANUARY
Whilst the new year doesn't bring with it a new me, it does (I hope) bring a more regular blog calendar for you all. It's my attempt this year to blog more frequently (and promptly!) about the things I love, the places I visit and anything imbetween that takes my fancy.
So kicking off 2018, with the first of twelve monthly rounds-ups of the products that I'm using and loving - because I think you'll like to hear about these too. I recently raved on instagram about a facial I had at the Elemis Skin Exchange in Oxford Street's John Lewis and so many of you went mad for it, so it's wonderful to hear that so many of you care about your skin as much as I do. My skin really is so important to me as it's part of what gives me my confidence every day. Being someone that doesn't really know how to apply a full face of make-up (or even - suit a heavily made up face of make-up for that matter), I have to make do with the face that I'm given, so having a good skin day makes the world of difference to me.
Shall we get started with January's beauty highlights?
ELEMIS GENTLE ROSE EXFOLIATOR - To maintain good skin, it's so important to buff that epidermis regularly! Exfoliators needn't be the rough, pumice like beads that you think you need in order to scrub your face off silly - a gentle exfoliator will do the trick just fine.
AVÈNE A-OXITIVE ANTIOXIDANT DEFENSE SERUM - For a brand that doesn't break the bank but does what it says, look no further than Avène. Great for those with sensitive skin too, the defense serum (along with the water cream I mention below) aims to tackle the effects that modern day pollution has on our skin - this can be everything from the weather, air pollution, mobile phone screens and stress. From what I learned from Avène's press day last year is that pollution takes many evil forms and we need to protect our skin from them! Super lightweight on the skin, this serum sinks into the skin, nourishing and brightening as it goes.
AVÈNE A-OXITIVE ANTIOXIDANT WATER CREAM - Applied after the defense serum, the water cream is the final step in the morning routine. Formulated with mother-of-peal, pigment correctors and Vitamins E & C, it aims to brighten complexion whilst leaving it smooth and protected.
ESTÉE LAUDER ADVANCED NIGHT REPAIR EYE - Now that the years are adding up, eye cream is essential! The Advanced Night Repair range from Estée Lauder is the holy grail in my books. Apply just a little amount of the eye repair under & around each eye every night and massage in the velvety-smooth formula before catching your zzz's. I don't go to sleep without this on.
ELEMIS SUPERFOOD FACIAL OIL - A firm favourite in my beauty cabinet is this super oil from Elemis and I would recommend everyone to buy this inexpensive wonder product. Loaded with superfoods and omega-rich oils, the oil leaves my skin full of hydration, super smooth and nourished. Applying this morning and night on clean skin has become my favourite daily face ritual and is an added extra boost for my skin underneath my daily moisturiser.
SCENTERED SLEEP WELL BALM & CANDLE - A brand which I think you're going to see much more from in the coming year. Scentered offers 100% natural aromatherapy products to the modern-day, busy woman (and man!). Sleep is so incredibly important to me - I need to get at least 7 hours a night to be a functioning human the next day - so anything that helps induce the ZZZ's is welcome. The Sleep Well Balm is a perfect companion for overnight flights when all you want to do is drift off into a deep sleep and wake up at your destination. Blended with palmarose, lavender and ylang ylang, you apply the balm to pulse points (wrist, temples, neck), take a deep breath in and zone out. The travel candle is a perfect addition to light up whilst you're winding down for bed. Just remember to blow it out before you fall into your slumber!
NUXE RÊVE DE MIEL ULTRA-NOURISHING LIP BALM - I'm a huge sucker for lip balms. But not just any lip balm from Boots or the like, but quality, luxurious ones. For those times when my lips are particularly in need of some love, there's this balm from Nuxe. Enriched with honey, this thick formula seals the lips and nourishes them all day long. My lips always feel totally hydrated when I apply this and I rather love the cute packaging too.
NUXE MULTI-PURPOSE DRY OIL - I practically bathe in this stuff. A new staple in my beauty cupboard, I won't go on holiday/anywhere without it. Super luxe and hydrating this is the perfect ointment for skin that's been exposed to the extreme - whether that's sun or winter. The spray top is really handy too, I spritz on after my shower and massage in, paying extra attention to areas that need an extra bit of love. I also pop this on the ends of my hair when they're crying out for some tlc at night. Did I also mention that it smells like summer too? Heaven. Something that I wouldn't necessarily think to buy for myself but now that I've tried it, I wouldn't have my skin without it. Better stock up pronto as I'm almost out!
REN ATLANTIC KELP AND MICROALGAE ANTI-FATIGUE TONING BODY OIL - Another deeply satisfying oil that works - I'm almost at the end of this bottle too! I use this every morning on my lower body to help keep skin supple, firm and ready to go. Super nourishing and hydrating, it replenishes the skin and rids your body of any trace of winter skin. An added bonus is the red algae extract which helps boost toning and skin firmness. A multi-purpose I am down with.
TLS X ELIZABETH SCARLETT TURTLE POUCH - When it comes to Elizabeth Scarlett, I've made no secret of my love for this beautiful brand. Every design Lizzie brings out, I am obsessed with - I'm already impatiently awaiting the next collection! - and the Watamu Turtle Pouch was love at first sight. A collaboration of two amazing ladies (Kelly Eastwood from The London Chatter & Lizzie of Elizabeth Scarlett), this pouch serves a double purpose of being a fantastic gift (for yourself, obviously) and doing good with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the Local Ocean Conservation, committed to the protection of Kenya's marine environment. The pouch is currently sold out but you can pop your email address in to be notified when it will be back in stock. And in the meantime, why don't you just browse the rest of Elizabeth Scarlett's range...?
