Weekend Brunch at Fucina, Marylebone

You know time is flying by when you can't remember the last time you had brunch at the weekend. The thing is, I can't quite think what I've been doing with my weekends instead - surely there's nothing more important on a Saturday morning then going for that all important brunch with friends? I almost feel that I need to renounce my title of 'avid bruncher' to you all, however, I'm hoping this latest post will redeem myself.

Yes ladies and gents, I give you brunch! 

Last weekend, I met up with Kim for a mooch 'n' munch in Marylebone. Our venue was Fucina, a lavish Italian restaurant on Paddington Street - just a stones throw from Chiltern Street. The restaurant has recently launched a new weekend brunch menu (available from 11am - 4pm every weekend) which we went along to give it a test run (read: try the entire menu...). Filled with Italian ingredient favourites from N'duja to stracciatella, it's not the place to go if you simply want your classic scrambled egg on sourdough, but, if you're looking for something a bit more adventurous for brunch - and something mighty tasty I may add - then I think you and Fucina might just get along nicely. Having placed quite the impressive order, Kim and I surprised ourselves with just how much we managed to get through. More-ish and delicious, the highlight for me was definitely the Italian-French Toast but I'd happily repeat any of the dishes we ordered again. 

And for those that are always looking for a good bottomless brunch, then Fucina might just be the one: pick three dishes and choose from the likes of free-flowing Aperol Spritz for £49 and I believe you call that a perfect weekend situation. Belissimo! 

THE VENUE:

Glamorous as one would expect in Marylebone. The restaurant is meticulously designed, with a statement brick covered ceiling featuring what can only be described as upside down hills (I think it's best to see the picture below rather than try imagine it!). The place certainly makes a bold design statement but the addition of the pink velvet seating area and pop of green from the cushion-covered chairs really helps to soften the look and warm the room up.

Granola with yogurt, mixed fruit & nuts - Italian-French Toast with peaches and lemon sorbet - Poached Eggs & Avocado Toast

Grilled Sausages, Stracciatella & Fig Toast  - Custard Cream Bomboloni
